Getting challenged by an engaged and curious audience was even better. I probably left with more energy than I brought in.\n\nBut the event also left me with a small reflection.\n\n## Experience comes with some duties\n\nI’m not getting younger. There are some disadvantages to that - my mirror keeps providing increasingly convincing evidence. But there is one obvious advantage: **experience**.\n\nOver the years, I’ve been lucky to meet people who shared theirs with me. People who gave me advice, challenged my thinking, opened doors, or simply spent an hour explaining something they had already learned the hard way.\n\nAt some point, receiving turns into a responsibility to **give something back**.\n\nI don’t think this means telling younger people how things *should* be done. Their world is different from the one I started in, and in many areas they already know things I don’t.\n\nBut I can share my mistakes, experiences and a few lessons that took me decades to collect.\n\nIf some of that helps someone avoid one unnecessary mistake or **make a better one** the time is well spent.\n\nPerhaps this is simply the next part of the deal.\n\n**I received a lot from people ahead of me. Now it’s my turn to pay some of it back.**\n\nSpecial thanks to **Chantelle Tong** for the invitation and for giving me the opportunity to do exactly that.","false","Speaking at BMES × NUS MedTech Industry Networking","A great evening sharing a few thoughts with the BMES and NUS MedTech community — and getting plenty of energy back from the audience.",[83],"Event",[],"Fri Sep 18 2026 09:04:40 GMT+0800 (Singapore Standard Time)","3ffd3e30-f967-450c-a4b5-0690038d8024",0,{"totalnoOfPosts":73,"page":73,"perPage":60,"noOfPostOnCurrentPage":73},{"enabled":90},true,{"data":92,"meta":169},[93,101,109,119,127,135,147,159],{"_id":94,"name":95,"createdAt":96,"updatedAt":97,"uuid":98,"description":99,"slug":100},"63c8a819ebd5da50564b61e1","Season","Thu Jan 19 2023 10:16:57 GMT+0800 (Singapore Standard Time)","Sun Nov 19 2023 10:26:28 GMT+0800 (Singapore Standard Time)","f320644a-3083-41c0-84cb-0d3fa5551f9c","Seasonal Symphony: Wishes and Whispers Throughout the Year.","season",{"_id":102,"name":103,"createdAt":104,"updatedAt":105,"uuid":106,"description":107,"slug":108},"63c8e274ebd5da50564b61e5","Books","Thu Jan 19 2023 14:25:56 GMT+0800 (Singapore Standard Time)","Sun Nov 19 2023 10:34:33 GMT+0800 (Singapore Standard Time)","cd14b16a-42b5-42d6-8d77-5c462a4d0f0f","TechTomes: Unveiling Insights from My Reading List.","books",{"_id":110,"name":69,"createdAt":111,"updatedAt":112,"uuid":113,"description":114,"slug":70,"image":115,"imageAlt":116,"metaDescription":117,"metaTitle":118},"63c8e27febd5da50564b61e6","Thu Jan 19 2023 14:26:07 GMT+0800 (Singapore Standard Time)","Fri Sep 04 2026 12:00:52 GMT+0800 (Singapore Standard Time)","a21f9898-e840-4a66-bf53-d559fbecd8a2","Not everything needs to be about work, strategy or the latest technological disruption.
